Who We Are

Vision Statement:

The Vision of the Ocean Shores Food Bank is that “Everyone has access to sufficient, nutritious food.”

Mission Statement:

Our Mission is: “So no one in our community goes hungry.”

We are an all-volunteer organization and working together, we can help alleviate hunger in our community.

When no one in our community goes hungry, we will have been successful.  Until then, your financial donations and volunteer help, will make Ocean Shores a better place to live for all its citizens.  The Ocean Shores Food Bank is an IRS 501(c)(3) not for profit charity and has also been designated a charitable corporation in the state of Washington.

For those of you less familiar with the Ocean Shores Food Bank, we are open for distributions twice a month on the first and third Thursdays. In addition, we have special distributions at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Emergency food is available six days a week through the assistance of the Anchor Avenue Thrift Store. Here is a new article about OSFB for you to read (OSFB – who we are).

Annual Report Summary:

Where do our donations come from and how are those funds spent?

During our most recent year, over 80% of our financial donations came from individuals and families with the balance derived from businesses and community organizations. Out of those donations, we were able to purchase 23 tons of food, as well as pay the rent, utilities, insurance, and other administrative expenses.

Number Served:

The following are some statistics to help you understand the scope of our mission:

  • Households Served: 5,000+ Households
    (Averaging 170 per distribution)
  • Individuals Served: 13,500+ individuals
(2% infants, 18% children, 45% adults, and some 35% seniors)
  • Emergency Food: Averages 50+ households per month

Pets and Books:

We also provide pet food and children’s books.

Knowing how important pets are to our guests, through designated funds we offer dog and cat food to our furry friends.

We strongly believe that literacy is an important key to alleviating poverty and hunger.  Thanks to designated cash donations and many used book donations, over 2,000 books were provided to children this last year.

The Ocean Shores Food Bank (OSFB) is governed by an active and engaged Board of Directors <click here for current board members> that is comprised of 11 people, all of whom live in Ocean Shores.  The Board oversees the Executive Director and helps raise funds to provide financial stability so the Food Bank can continue serving and caring for all our neighbors in need.

The Board meets the second Wednesday of each month at the meeting room in the Library.  If you would like to see the Board in action, just stop by!  Meetings start at 10:00 a.m.  Many Board members volunteer at the Food Bank on Distribution Days and are always willing to stop and talk about what we do.

If you are interested in being on the OSFB Board please fill out the Board Member Application and submit it to us by clicking on: Board Member Application Form
