When Ocean Shores Food Bank Is Open:

When Anchor Avenue Thrift Store Is Open:
Days: Monday through Saturday
Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Special Thanksgiving Distribution
The Ocean Shores Food Bank will offer a Special Thanksgiving Distribution on Tuesday, November 26, 1:30pm to 5:00pm at the Food Bank (848 Anchor Avenue). Items offered for a delicious meal (while supplies last) include a whole turkey, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, yams, green beans, rolls, and pumpkin pie. To help us prepare the right quantities for the special Thanksgiving Distribution, please sign up at the next regular distribution – November 21, 1:30-5pm or call the food bank at 360-289-2171 and leave a message with your name and phone number.

What to bring when you come & who qualifies for food:
There are no qualification requirements. We turn no one away. At your first distribution (1st or 3rd Thursday of the month), a volunteer will assist you in completing a Registration Card. We ask only information that we are required to maintain: your name, address, number in household, and birth dates. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us and your individual information will not be shared. We do not ask for Social Security numbers or proof of income; however, you will be asked to provide ID with your current address such as a driver’s license, utility bill, or mail. You will be given an Ocean Shores Food Bank (OSFB) name card to bring with you on all future visits.
You will also be given an entry number. Typically, there is coffee and light snacks or soup while you wait for your number to be called.
If it is your first visit a volunteer will assist you during your shopping experience when your number is called. They will answer any questions you may have. At the end of your shopping experience, a volunteer will assist you to your vehicle.
The following types of food are generally available:
OSFB offers a grocery style shopping model. We attempt to have a standard selection of items from which you may choose. Generally, you may expect to see the following:
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned beans/proteins
- Canned tuna and chicken
- Tomato products
- Pasta and macaroni
- Dry goods such as rice, beans, cornmeal, etc.
- Frozen vegetables and meats
- Eggs and bread
- Onions and potatoes
During the summer months, we offer fresh vegetables from our garden.
Special Programs Available:
OSFB participates in a federal program, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), administered through the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Seniors over the age of 60 who meet certain income requirements (130% of the poverty rate) are eligible to participate. We are provided with 50 boxes of food to distribute each month to specified participants. Each box weighs approximately 30 pounds and is designed to improve the health of low-income elderly by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA foods. Please see a volunteer to request an application.
Pet Food Available:
Through designated funds, we are happy to be able to offer dog and cat food to our furry friends.
